Eily O'Connell

Eily obtained a cert in art/craft / design from Carrowbeg College in Westport, Co. Mayo before obtaining her 1st class degree in metals at the National College of Art and Design. She composes beautiful creations with an eerie undertone. O’Connell seeks to reference man’s disruption of nature in her work through the creation of her Hybrids. She searches out natural forms and through processes of casting and assembling, re-combines them to suggest new organic forms that are both familiar and darkly unsettling.
Eily has exhibited her work worldwide. She was selected for the WCC European Prize for Applied Art, Belgium in 2009 and recent exhibitions include Hothouse, Bluecoat Display Centre, Liverpool, UK 2009/10; Altered Space Gallery, California, USA, 2010; Sieraad Jewellery Fair, Amsterdam, The Netherlands; Design Nature International Biennial, Liege, Belgium and Material Poetry, New York, USA 2010.
She has also won numerous awards for her work in Ireland and abroad. Most recently Eily won not one but two prestigious awards at the National Craft and Design Fair at the RDS in the Precious Jewellery section and the National Craft and Design Fair Award
